About Laura


Laura Parker is a 30 year old artist, entertainer and writer who recently relocated to Tacoma, WA from Key West, Florida. In Key West, Laura lived on a 26ft Columbia Sailboat with her fiance Alex, also a juggler and street performer. Laura grew up in Louisville, Kentucky and received a Bachelors in Fine Arts from the University of Denver in 2001. She spent four years living in New York City where she worked for art non-profits including the Art Directors Club, Children's Museum of Art and HOWL! Festival. In 2005, Laura moved back to Kentucky to focus on her art career and began an experimental art project called Meet-A-Stranger. In 2007, she wrote and performed a piece, based on Meet-A-Stranger, at Actors Theatre of Louisville. Laura also received a NOW ARTS Grant for the project through Oregon-based performance artist, Damali Ayo, which provided mentorship by Portland NPR Co-Host April Baer. Laura is co-founder of The Kentucky Girlhood Project, a multi-discipline art and performance festival celebrating contemporary female artists across the state of Kentucky. The Kentucky Girlhood Project is funded by a grant from the Kentucky Foundation for Women. She founded Two Muses Entertainment which focuses on fun and original themed parties for children that include arts & crafts, costumes, balloon art, face painting, costumes and juggling.  Laura moved to Washington to attend school for holistic skin care at the Euro Institute of Skin Care in Renton.
